Read Time:1 Minute, 20 Second

Stranger Things-star David Harbour will headline filmmaker Cooper Raiff’s upcoming film The Trashers. The actor will play Jimmy Galante, the purported inspiration for one of the most iconic TV characters of all time, Tony Soprano.

The Trashers will chronicle the rise and fall of Galante, a trash magnate in Connecticut. In 2004, Galante bought the city’s minor hockey league and assigned his teenage son to run it. The team gained popularity for their rough and violent style of play, however, their success and fame all came to an abrupt end with Galante’s arrest on 72 criminal charges.

Raiff will direct the film from a script written by Adam R Perlman. The production of the film is set to begin this fall.

The Trashers is produced by 30WEST. Tom McNulty of MC2 Entertainment and Andrew Morrison of Yellow Bear Films serve as the producers. Micah Green, Dan Steinman, and Dan Friedkin will executive produce for 30WEST alongside Jon Wertheim and Perlman. Jimmy’s son AJ Galante, who owns the life rights of the story, will serve as an associate producer.

Harbour, best known for playing Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, will be seen next in We Have a Ghost and Violent Night. He was recently seen in Black WidowNo Sudden Move and Extraction.
